Editing

Editing
  • Editing is a collection of shots putted together to create a story.
  • Elliptical editing is used to make the screen time shorter by cutting out unnecessary shots.
  • Non-digetic sound is basically music or any other sound added when editing the video.
  • Long shots are used to set a location. Such as showing someone in the middle of the woods so we know that character is alone.
  • We know she is bending down to pick up the ring because in the first shot she is looking down and in the next one she is picking up the ring, so we make a connection between those two shots. That shot is called Eye-line matching

Hustle
  • Overhead establishing shot is used to set out the space in which the space in which the action is gonna take place, and to show where the characters are located.
  • Shot-reverse-shot is used for instance in a conversation. They shot to different persons in different shots but still you know they're talking to each other. How do we do this? By eye-line matching.
  • Eye-line matching: by seeing where the characters are looking at we can realise that they are talking to each other.
  • Wipe is used to change a location and time.
  • Quick cuts are used to create a fast rhythm to keep the story moving forward.
